About Us

The Groom family originally moved to Mabank TX in 1943.  The five Groom brothers began working together in 1948, mostly in the Dallas area and the first Groom and Sons’ Hardware store was founded in Pleasant Grove area of Dallas. Later, Estle Groom purchased the hardware store in Mabank in 1972 and with the help of his sons Roger, Leon, and Terry Groom grew the business to the complete home center it is today.

Groom and Sons’ is now a multi store chain with locations serving Mabank, Athens, and the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas. What started as an operation with only 3 employees has grown to include divisions in retail hardware, lumber and building materials, and flooring proudly serving 5 communities.
